Philip Baker

Philip Baker KC is a practicing barrister and King's Counsel with chambers in Field Court, Gray's Inn. He is also a Visiting Professor at Oxford University Law School and a Senior Visiting Fellow at the Institute of Advanced Legal Studies, University of London. Prof. Dr. Dr. h. c. Wolfgang Schön is Director at the Max Planck Institute for Tax Law and Public Finance and Honorary Professor at the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich. He was Chairman of the Academic Advisory Board of the DStJG, Chairman of the European Association of Tax Law Professors and Vice-Chairman of the Permanent Scientific Committee of the International Fiscal Association. He is a member of the Board of Trustees of the IBFD and an International Research Fellow at the Oxford University Centre for Business Taxation.

James Somerville

James Somerville is a partner in the tax department of A&L Goodbody LLP in Dublin. He advises on all areas of tax law, with a particular focus on financial services and real estate related tax. This includes structured finance transactions, capital markets issues, investment funds, mergers and acquisitions, group restructurings and real estate acquisition and management structures.

He is admitted as a Solicitor in both Ireland and England and Wales and is also a Chartered Tax Advisor.

He currently chairs TALC, the central body for exchanges between Irish tax advisers and the Irish Revenue Commissioners. He has previously chaired the Irish Law Society's Taxation Committee and the Foreign Lawyers Forum of the Taxation Section of the American Bar Association.

He regularly publishes articles in legal and tax law journals and speaks at conferences and seminars on Irish and international tax law.
